In the UK, it is currently legal for someone with no medical training at all to inject dermal filler. That surprises most of my patients — and it explains why prices for the "same" treatment can vary so widely between clinics.
The product in the syringe is a fraction of the cost of safe treatment. What you are really paying for is judgement: knowing the anatomy beneath the skin, recognising who should not be treated, and being equipped to manage the rare occasions when something goes wrong.
A vascular occlusion filler entering a blood vessel is a medical emergency measured in minutes. A doctor can diagnose it, hold the dissolving agent on site, and act immediately. A non-medical injector must call for help and wait.
A good clinic will welcome these questions. If you feel awkward asking them, that tells you something too.
